Charo Calalo, organizer of Mrs. Universe Philippines 2021, to relinquish her crown tonight

October 7, 2021 - Reigning Mrs. Universe Philippines MARIA CHARO CALALO will mount the first-ever Mrs. Universe Philippines Pageant at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila later today. 



Calalo is the founder, organizer and National Director of Mrs. Universe Philippines Fdn that will select the country's delegates to the Mrs. Universe 2021 competition set in South Korea on Nov. 27. 



This is the first time a physical pageant will be held.  Previous Philippine delegates to the Mrs. Universe contest were handpicked only. 



Charo competed against 80 married and accomplished women worldwide in the 2019 Mrs. Universe Pageant held in Guangzhou, China from Dec. 22, 2019 until Jan. 1, 2020.

She finished one of the Top 18 and won the Miss Popularity Award. 



It's interesting to note that Charo was candidate no. 20 in the 1998 Bb. Pilipinas pageant won by Tisha Silang (Universe), Rachel Soriano (World) and Colette Centeno (International).   



She later ventured into showbiz using the screen name Charo Laude.  

She was a member of That's Entertainment's Monday group that included Ruffa Mae Quinto, among others. 



Charo appeared in Bocaue 'Pagoda Tragedy' (1995) and  television series 'Kadenang Ginto' of ABS-CBN (2019).



Charo is now a recording artist and a successful businesswoman. 


The Mrs. Universe Philippines 2021 Pageant 


Eighteen equally accomplished, empowered, advocacy-driven and gorgeous married and single Filipina moms from different parts of the country will vie for three coveted crowns and titles, namely :  Mrs. Universe Philippines 2021, Mrs. Pacific Continental 2021 and Mrs. North Pacific Asia 2021.   The three eventual winners will travel to South Korea for the global competition. 

Also to be awarded are subsidiary titles : Mrs. Luzon 2021, Mrs. Visayas 2021 and Mrs. Mindanao 2021; and two runners-up.

STAR CITY TO REOPEN ON JANUARY 14

Star City , the country's biggest air conditioned, all weather theme park reopens its doors to the public on January 14, 2022.  Rebuilt with rides and attractions for all age groups, and providing moderate to extreme thrills for people of all walks of life, the park soft opening  kickstarts its move to regain a solid reputation built o seever three decades as a world-class recreational complex where the public can derive maximum enjoyment from stimulating array of indoor and outdoor attractions again and again.
