Taguig beauty sets sights on Miss World Philippines crown

Stunner Asha Gutierrez is excited to represent Taguig in the Miss World Philippines pageant this coming July.
“It is a great honor to represent Taguig as a candidate in Miss World Philippines,” said Asha, a resident of Fort Bonifacio. “I am proud to represent my city and its history as a probinsyudad, as well as its holistic approach to caring for the people living and working in Taguig.”
Asked what she enjoys most about being a Taguig citizen, the 26-year-old young entrepreneur cited the unique sense of community and unparalleled social services in the city, including in the areas of healthcare and learning. “Its’ a perfect place for a budding young entrepreneur like me.”
She also praised Taguig’s COVID-19 response, which has allowed the city to pioneer best practices and register some of the lowest numbers in Metro Manila.
“I love Taguig because it focuses on the well being of each individual citizen and their specific needs whether it be financial aid, health support, educational assistance and many more,” she said. “Living in Taguig City made me healthier, safer and more connected to the betterment of my surroundings. This inspires me to be bold and confident in the things I wish to pursue in life.”
“Some of my best memories being part of Taguig is having the opportunity to work for the City and having a second family who taught and helped me empower not only myself as a woman but also others.”
Asha is a public servant, helping the Public Information Office of Taguig City as a consultant.
This is Asha's second stint in the Miss World Philippines pageant. She decided to reenter the tilt because she identified with its “beauty with a purpose” slogan.
“As a woman who aims to bring value and growth to who I am as a person and to other people around the world, it is withheartfelt joy that I am a part of this empowering beauty pageant,” she explained.
Aside from her pride of place, Asha brings a strong portfolio into this year’s competition.
She graduated from De La Salle University with a degree in Literature, and recently finished a specialized course in Literature at Oxford University.
She is a partner at TechShake, a media company that features the movers of the startup scene in Southeast Asia and organizes IGNITE, the Philippine Premier Innovation Conference.
She is an entrepreneur, looking to launch very soon a digital healthcare platform that would be accessible to Filipinos.
Also for publication this year is a book she authored tackling ecofeminism.
She hopes to tie all her passions and roles together one day with “integrated initiatives for mental, physical and economic empowerment projects that will consistently build up a community of purposeful women who look out for each other while making the city a healing home for everyone.”
If Asha wins the crown at Miss World Philippines, she could fulfill that goal faster and muster influence to scale it up.
Raring for that victory, she is doubling down on her fitness and channelling a winning mindset. She also hopes to enlist the support of Taguigeños as she journeys to the crown.
Indeed, Asha is a classic example of an empowered woman.
Asha answered questions from members of media during the Meet and Greet held at the newly-opened and world-class La Luna Cafè located along M. L. Quezon Avenue, Brgy. Hagonoy, Taguig City last Sunday afternoon, June 28.
Special guest of honor was Taguig Lone District Representative - Cong. Lani Cayetano who fully supports Asha's Miss World Philippines journey.
